Trevor Philips

Character Info:

The first impression anyone is going to get of Trevor is that he is an unhinged individual who needs anti-psychotic drugs, and that first impression for the most part, is correct. He is introduced into the game through a series of cut scenes that start with him having sex with a woman, seeing that Michael (his best friend, mentioned later) is still alive, and then going on a killing spree that involves killing the woman's boyfriend, and basically the whole meth production industry in his county. If this isn't a strong indication of what's to come, then I don't know what is.

He thrives on adrenaline rushes from killing and dosing on meth and other assorted drugs. He is a career criminals that holds the title of CEO of Trevor Philips Industries, which runs a meth lab and trades guns to mexico (Or, at least, it tries to do this.) He is also a huge bully and prefers to rule over his employees at TP inc with intimidation and fear. He isn't against sexual violence to get what he wants, particularly from male associates, though he will degrade women if they piss him off in particular. He views his behavior as being true to himself, and often brags that he isn't hypocritical by trying to say that he does terrible things for a reason. He does it because he enjoys it.

Trevor is basically a textbook case of Intermittent Explosive Disorder, which, in layman's terms, means that even the littlest things will send him into a rampage that usually involves lots of killing. His triggers are far and few in between, but his biggest ones are noticing that he has a slight accent/that he is Canadian, calling him a motherfucker, and blatant racism/sexism. Any of these things happening is always the cause of a Rampage mission in game, where you have to kill 30 or more people to pass. This gives an idea of how angry Trevor can get, it's murder dozens of people single handedly angry.

Speaking of bigotry, now is a really good time to talk about Trevor's standards! Because yes, he has standards, even though he's a terrible person. One of his few redeeming traits is that he is loyal as hell. He will bend over backwards for the few people he thinks are worth the respect, such as Michael and eventually Franklin. He also has a soft spot for Michael's children, Jimmy and Tracey, and views himself as their Uncle. (Though his way of expressing this is usually hunting down anyone that dares to mess with them and make them pay for it.) Trevor is also an advocate for equal opportunity and he hates bigotry with passion. As mentioned before, if he catches anyone discriminating against anyone else, they're likely to end up dead. This does not mean that Trevor is above doing terrible things to poc or women, he just believes that he should treat minorities as terribly as he treats everyone else.

Despite the fact that he's a pretty terrible person with a trigger hair temper he is incredibly intelligent. He was in the Air Force for before being dismissed after a psychiatric evaluation. (shocker) He's also "good with numbers" as one of his friends puts it, in fact, he's able to calculate the worth of a block of gold before a (tool assisted) accountant can. His sentences are normally peppered with intelligent words. Trevor generally seems educated enough about the world around him, enough so to have opinions on the state of America and things such as capitalism and torture. His problem is more that his anger leads him to make rash decisions, which in turn leads to him being viewed as stupid, when in reality he has his own brand of smarts going on.

A lot of Trevor's problems stem from his childhood. He had a non existent father figure and a mother who treated him pretty terribly. He has a hallucination of her in one point of the game where he ends up crying, draped on her legs, and her response is to kick him away and demand a truck full of drugs. From the way he talks about her, it's very obvious he loves his mother, calling her a "delicate flower," but from her behavior we can tell that she did not give Trevor the love that he needed as a child. There's also hints in the game that suggest an incestuous relationship between the two, (his denial of the word motherfucker is "it's not fucking if there's no penetration") which isn't surprising considering what Trevor grew up to become.

This theme of lack of love in his life continues when his best friend Michael, who he loves dearly, dies. Except he faked his death to retire with millions of bucks with his family. Trevor finds out that this has happened, and deeply resents him for it. When Trevor finds out that Brad died instead of Michael he gets angry enough to let him be kidnapped and almost killed by a chinese syndicate who were originally looking to kill Trevor. He feels like he's been betrayed by his best friend, even though Michael leaving Trevor behind was more about his family than anything else. Trevor makes it about him, he has learned selfishness because of the sincere lack of love in his life. He even remarks at one point that he thinks no one gives a shit about him.

It takes until the end of the game for Trevor to forgive Michael properly, and the only reason he doesn't kill Michael is because he wants to do a heist, the big one, the one that Trevor and his friends have dreamed of for years.

It's also worth mentioning that Trevor may act like he likes himself but he really doesn't. When he gets drunk with Michael he often talks about how he hates himself and how he is not a nice man. He also has a breakdown at one point after Franklin laughs at him tripping and falling, and remarks that he "loves him" but would have probably crushed his head in if he hadn't apologized. It seems like, in a way, he regrets his anger problems but only in relation to how he treats people he cares about? He could give a rats ass about the general population of the world but when he really likes and trusts a person, and feels like he could murder them in that split moment, it causes him a lot of regret. I also think that, going back to his lack of love, that causes him a lot of heartache, because part of Trevor blames himself for that.

Memory Loss Considerations: He obviously wouldn't have the same triggers towards being angered, though he'd still be prone to angry outbursts. It's true that his anger has A LOT to do with his past but there is also a chemical imbalance there that would still be present even with no memories.

I also feel like Trevor would be a much more trusting person without his negative memories holding him back, and with his loyalty, he could form really tight bonds with other people easier.

Skills: Trevor was in the air force! He's the most skilled pilot out of the three protagonists and he's also had basic military training as well. He's more than capable of killing a few dozen people by himself. Each of the protags get a special ability, and his is a mode which gives him more health and makes his attacks hit harder. This basically adds to his "one man army" status.

Other than that, however, he's just an average human being, nothing magical about him!

Team Considerations: Gotta be honest, with the way Trevor is, he'll need a team that can calm him down if need be. Since his anger may have a potential to change games? But the fact that he is, as I have mentioned before, incredibly loyal to the people he cares about, I feel like this will help him fit into a team a lot better.

Though he also tends to be a bully, as also mentioned, so he'll really need a team that doesn't put up with his crap and isn't afraid to stand up to him. Having Trevor rule over a team with fear and intimidation is NOT a good idea! This'll lead to a major imbalance because you'll end up with a team that does everything and anything to win... which would in turn lead to a team that literally everyone hates.

Also, he has a completely different set of morals than other people! He won't have a problem messing with other team's attempts to win games; trauma games are likely to actually be fun for him.

And it's not as if Trevor is a complete lone wolf. In canon, he does missions with Michael and Franklin and he very rarely does anything to ruin the missions. (If he does, it's usually unintentional) Trevor likes winning, and he'll be eager to earn his memories back.

Basically he should have a team that can reign him in if need be and also appreciate him for the (few) positive traits he does have.

IC Survey
Introduce yourself in a few sentences.

Hey there! Name's Trevor, CEO of Trevor Philips Industries. I'm a criminal, but I'm a businessman first and foremost. They say I'm crazy, but I'd like to call it chemically unbalanced. And hey, you're probably a little chemically unbalanced too.

"The suffering of a few is okay if it benefits a great many." Do you agree with this sentiment? Why or why not?

Sounds like somethin' a corrupt government would come up with. Now, let me tell you about the government. They don't give a shit about us, the little people, the small business owners. They're just interested in lining their own pockets, trust me, met enough to know, they're aaaall corrupt.

As for the actual sentiment? No, I don't agree. Should be switched around. "The suffering of many is okay if it benefits a few." There, that sounds better! The few being me, of course.

What event from your past has impacted you the most? Please describe.

The fuck you asking about this for? Ugh... look, I had a hard childhood, okay? And the fact that everyone I care about seems to fucking leave doesn't make it any better! Not that you care, asshole. Fucking survey!

What are three things you're good at, as well as three things you're not so good at?

I am a seasoned businessman! A trained professional when it comes to dealing in drugs and arms! Someone's gotta get those mexicans their guns, am I right? Also I have to say that I'm pretty damn good at killing. And flying. I can fly any plane like a dream. Captain T, ready for takeoff!

Things I'm not so good at... none of your damn business! Being modest is for loooosers.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Nothing! I like myself just fine, thank you very much!

Do you believe in soulmates or love at first sight?

Sure do! Love works in mysterious ways, after all.

"Killing criminals is okay if they've committed a grave crime." Do you agree with this? Why or why not?

Fuck no I don't! Look, I don't want to die in some prison by injection! I mean, at least I'd get an audience, but I wanna die out there. In the action, you know?

Do you consider yourself a strong person? Why or why not?

I'm in my prime, I can snap your neck, that guy's neck, and that other guy's neck in a minute or so, no problem.

If you met a stranger, and were allowed to ask one single question in order to get to know them better, what question would you ask? And, if somebody asked you this question, how would you answer?

That's impossible, cowboy. But, if I wanted to ask a question to know if I'd actually like someone, I'd ask them if they plan on stabbin' me in the back later. And if I was asked the same thing? I'd say somethin' like "only if you do it first, amigo."
